lyrics
Your heart is black and misanthropic,
but that's alright with me.
I've let you down so often, it's chronic
Blackheart
Too hot, too cold, too fierce to hold
that's the state of affairs these days
blackheart, hardcase, blackheart, your face...
facing away from me.
Your heart is darkening and hardened
it's tough for me to see
a vicious blackhole of sharp sadness
Blackheart.
Forgot the fire, situation dire.
How long can this go on?
Wasted words, wasted time
Blackheart, it's enough.
I've heard them say it's a thin line.
Between contempt and love.
Blackheart we're chained
Blackheart I'll change
it'll be different soon
Blackheart we're changed
Blackheart i'll change
or maybe i'm just dumb.
Can you remember when we first started
easy smiles and so in love
seems like we were never parted
Blackheart
Those things that were cute,
the situation is moot
resting loathing and shopping lists
righteously upset, constant annoyance.
Blackheart i'm spent.
I've heard them say it's a thin line.
Between contempt and love.
Blackheart we're chained
Blackheart I'll change
it'll be different soon
Blackheart we're changed
Blackheart i'll change
or maybe it's just done.

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
